Totally Good

One evening I read two heartbreaking questions from an eight-year old boy. He wrote that his father had promised to take him fishing on his birthday, but when that day arrived, the father forgot. His little spirit crushed, the child wrote, "Did God make my dad forget me? Didn't He want me to go fishing?" It is especially hard to answer questions like this from a child, yet many adults ask the same thing in different ways. Somehow they can't completely rest in God because they don't really trust Him. They think He is behind their hurts. They find it hard to believe that God is totally good. Have you ever tossed and turned, doubting that God would keep His promises? If things go too well do you sometimes secretly wait for God to "pull the rug out" from under you? Rest assured that God is good! The negligence of the little boy's father like any abuses you may have suffered, were not from God! As James tell us: "Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning" (James 1:17, NKJV). God's goodness is continually working in your behalf, He not only is good, but He does good, and He wants the best for you. Believe it! If secret doubts about the reality of His goodness have been hindering your rest, ask Him to heal your heart as you learn to stand against the real enemy of your soul. Our Evening Prayer - Let's Pray Together… God loves you and wants to answer your prayer. Say this prayer with me: Heavenly Father, help me fully believe in Your goodness toward me, realizing that You are not the source of my many hurts and pains. I thank You for healing me now, as I lie down to rest in a new revelation of Your goodness and love. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

Beauty For Ashes

A pillow soaked with tears...this pitiful picture is not something a poet dreamed up, it is what many experience, night after night. There are many things that could be grieving you. Perhaps it is the loss of a loved one or a shattered marriage. It could also be a wayward child, or sorrow for lost souls, or for the brokenness of God's people. If something is causing you grief tonight, whatever it is, the Lord's heart is with you. He longs to comfort you and hold you until morning. In His Word, He promises even more than comfort to those who mourn. He says He has come, "...to comfort all who mourn, to console those who mourn in Zion, to give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for morning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness, that they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified" (Isaiah 61:2b, 3). Think of it: beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning. God has heard your cries. And He is telling you that no tear is ever wasted. You are the beloved Bride, the apple of His eye. What moves your heart moves His. You are coming into greater oneness with Him. What a comforting thought to fall asleep with. Our Evening Prayer - Let's Pray Together… God loves you and wants to answer your prayer. Say this prayer with me: Heavenly Father, I thankfully accept the comfort that You send me by Your Spirit tonight. I praise You that You have come to give me beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, and the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness. Your Son was a Man of sorrows, acquainted with grief, and so am I. May my mourning be used as a tool of intercession in Your hands, so that You may be glorified. In Jesus' Name, Amen. |--- Like us on facebook at http://t.co/pKIPfMlw |---

Today's Bible Scripture

We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ. We write this to make our joy complete. – 1 John 1:3-4 (NIV) Today’s commentary There is a miracle that happens with faith in Christ. A proclamation turns into belief, which turns into an intervention from God, which turns into a relationship with God through Christ. We dont fully comprehend this mysterious progression of events, but the outcome is joy. There is rejoicing when we see others come to know their Creator. |--- Join our website using your email address, either gmail or yahoo, twitter , facebook at http://bit.ly/qXbMi4 and Like us facebook at http://t.co/pKIPfMlw |---

Today's Bible Scripture

We must pay the most careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away. – Hebrews 2:1 (NIV) Today’s commentary The writer of Hebrews reminds us that no matter how much vision or inspiration fill our souls we have a tendency to leak. There is a saying, The price of freedom is responsibility, and it applies here. It takes diligence to stay the course that God sets for us. If you feel you are lost, go back to the Scriptures that you heard at the beginning. God is faithful to help you find your way back again. |---- Join our website using your google, yahoo, facebook, twitter or linkeIn account at http://bit.ly/qXbMi4 and like us on facebook at http://t.co/pKIPfMlw Thanks |----

Launch Out!

Can you imagine how hard it must have been for Abraham to "launch out" and follow God without any idea of where he was going? Or what about Sarah? I've often thought about how hard it must have been for her to accompany this man who had his heart set on an unseen God with a mysterious and unpredictable scheme. Where was her security? Who was in control? God is calling many of you, too, to "cut your shorelines" and launch out onto deeper waters. It's frightening. For as one partner reminded me, "There are no paths in the ocean!" When we beg God for a roadmap, He replies, "For now, I'm not going to give you one." You've heard His call. You want to obey. But you toss and turn, fearing the unknown. Stop fretting long enough to listen to what He is saying to you, "Enlarge the place of your tent, and let the curtains of your habitations be stretched out; spare not, lengthen your cords and strengthen your stakes..." (Isaiah 54:2, AMP). As you lie down tonight, be courageous and sleep well. Know that we are praying for you as you launch out. If you will write to us, we will have others pray for you, too. We are one. Believe that we will all uphold each other during these end-time hours of breaking through to new frontiers! Our Evening Prayer - Let's Pray Together… God loves you and wants to answer your prayer. Say this prayer with me: Heavenly Father, I thank You for the strength and encouragement You give me to face the unseen challenges ahead. Like Abraham, I will learn day-by-day to trust and rely totally upon You. Father, I also ask that You give refreshment, guidance and Your strength to others, who like me, are striving to obey Your call, enlarging the place of their tents, and are willing to launch out onto the deep! In Jesus' Name, Amen. |---- Join our website using your google, yahoo, facebook, twitter or linkedIn account at http://bit.ly/qXbMi4 And like us on facebook at http://t.co/pKIPfMlw |----

Its His Fight

Occasionally, a partner has told me of spending a terrible night pacing the floor...heart pounding, head throbbing, and blood racing through their veins. Why? Unresolved anger. Their question is, "What do I do with it at 2 o'clock in the morning? I know the Bible tells me to forsake it, but if it's already overwhelmed me, what can I do?" If you find yourself at this point tonight, try looking at your anger from another perspective. Ask yourself, "Whose battle is this, mine or the Lord's?" Whose job is it to deal with whoever has made you angry? To whom does vengeance, repayment or chastisement belong? In most cases, there's only so much you can, or should do. The Lord Himself wants to take over. "...the battle is not yours, but God's...You will not need to fight in this battle. Position yourselves, stand still and see the salvation of the LORD who is with you..."(II Chronicles 20:15, 17, NKJV). If something today has made you really angry, let Him fight for you. He will guide you to constructive solutions or reconciliation, but first you must be calm and get a good night's sleep! Give Him your situation and let the anger drain out of you; experience a surge of His peace bathing your soul as you pray. Our Evening Prayer - Let's Pray Together… God loves you and wants to answer your prayer. Say this prayer with me: Heavenly Father, I fully repent of my anger, and let it all go. I leave the entire incident in Your capable hands, asking that You guide me to a constructive solution, helping me to see things from Your perspective. Thank You for the new anointing of self-control which You have given me. In Jesus' Name, Amen. Like us on facebook at | http://t.co/pKIPfMlw

The Daily Bible Verse

Therefore, although in Christ I could be bold and order you to do what you ought to do, yet I prefer to appeal to you on the basis of love. It is as none other than Paul—an old man and now also a prisoner of Christ Jesus— – Philemon 1:8-9 (NIV) Today’s commentary by Dave Whitehead, Senior Pastor, Paul could have used positional authority (he was an apostle, after all), instead he appealed to Philemon on the basis of love. Positional authority will produce results, but not changed attitudes. Wrestling with all of the dynamics that maintain a loving relationship is more challenging, but in the long run it produces results that go beyond the task at hand—it gives us a perspective that will guide us for the rest of our lives. --- Join our website using your google, yahoo, twitter, facebook or linkeIn account at | http://bit.ly/qXbMi4 and Like us on facebook at | http://t.co/pKIPfMlw --

The Daily Bible Verse

You, however, must teach what is appropriate to sound doctrine. – Titus 2:1 (NIV) The word doctrine can cause some Christians to react. Yet when Paul writes to Titus, he places proper doctrine at a very high place. This means that we dont just love God with our hearts, but our minds as well. So dont avoid doctrine just because its difficult; be willing to explore truths that have been taught for centuries. Sound doctrine has stood the test of time, it speaks to our generation, and it can guide your life toward the future. Test The Spirits

I can't tell you how many times partners tell me they have spent an entire night in anguish over a "prophecy" someone has given them which was, supposedly, "from the Lord." Confused, distraught-and sometimes even devastated, they can't sleep. They wonder if it really is the Lord talking to them. Often, they have doubts. If one such "word" is weighing heavily on your heart tonight, let me offer you three guidelines from God's Word to help you discern the source of the "prophecy." The Apostle Paul tell us, "...he who prophesies speaks edification and exhortation and comfort to men (I Corinthians 14:3, NKJV). Let me ask you: How did you feel after receiving this "word from the Lord"...built up? Comforted? Encouraged? Exhorted? If you felt condemned, torn down or devastated, something is very wrong. Although God may sometimes warn or entreat you, His purpose through others is never to strike at you or shock you with some "revelation," you are totally unprepared for. God is love. What was the spirit of what you were told and how was it told to you? Can you say without a doubt that it was spoken in love? Remember always to "test the spirits" to discern God's perfect will in your life. Our Evening Prayer - Let's Pray Together… God loves you and wants to answer your prayer. Say this prayer with me: Heavenly Father, I thank You for using my brothers and sisters to help build, comfort, encourage, and sometimes warn me. Increase my powers of discernment with which to "test the spirits" so that I may know what is of You. I now forgive anyone who has spoken to me falsely, and ask You to help them grow in discernment, too. In Jesus' Name, Amen. View and join us at http://t.co/pKIPfMlw

The Daily Bible Verse

2 Timothy 1:13-14 - What you heard from me, keep as the pattern of sound teaching, What you heard from me, keep as the pattern of sound teaching, with faith and love in Christ Jesus. Guard the good deposit that was entrusted to you—guard it with the help of the Holy Spirit who lives in us. – 2 Timothy 1:13-14 (NIV) Paul confidently tells Timothy to follow his teaching, but notice what he adds: faith and love in Christ Jesus. Doctrine without faith in God is only a philosophy that requires no action, and teaching without love can create a false sense of superiority. Finding a balance that is fruitful would be overwhelming except for the fact that we are not left alone to do it; the Holy Spirit is here to guide us every step of the way. --
Beyond All Doubt "Does God still love me?" Event the most seasoned saint is kept awake, from time to time, tormented by this thought. Circumstances of the day can churn like storm clouds in their minds, seeming to prove that God no longer cares. Like clouds, the anxious thoughts block out the light of His love. We are then deceived into thinking that it is He who has cut us off! Have the events of your day cast doubt on your trust in God's love? Don't use these circumstances as a barometer of His caring. They are no indicator...they are snares of the enemy. With all the beatings, persecutions and deprivations the Apostle Paul went through, he, if anyone, might have doubted God's love. Many of your trials are just as excruciating to you. Perhaps you face a loved one addicted to drugs, an abusive spouse, unemployment, financial setback or poor health...making you cry out in the night. "Do You still care?" With all he went through Paul was convinced that, "...neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord" (Romans 8:38, 39, NKJV). Stop doubting God's love. Know that all the trials you went through today can only bring you closer to Him. Beyond all doubt, you are more than a conqueror in His love! Our Evening Prayer - Let's Pray Together… God loves you and wants to answer your prayer. Say this prayer with me: Heavenly Father, in Your love, use today's circumstances to make me stronger and more firmly rooted in You. Help me keep my mind focused on You, knowing that nothing can separate me from Your love. Thank You for using them to bring me into an even greater walk with You. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

Do Good

treated as your weakness. "Still,be kind" Your help to others may go unneeded & unnoticed. "Still,be helpful" "IF YOU ARE HONEST & FRANK",people may cheat you. "Still,be honest" If you find happiness, they may be jealous. "Still,be happy" The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow. "Do good anyway" Because in the final analysis it's between You & GOD, It was never between you & them.
